Role Overview

Centum Search is partnering with an innovative startup to find a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead their growing technical team.

As the Director of Engineering, you will:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a distributed engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Define and execute the engineering roadmap in alignment with the companys business goals.
• Make key architectural and technical decisions to ensure the delivery of scalable, reliable, and secure systems on time and on budget.
• Establish engineering KPIs, manage sprint cycles, and remove roadblocks to maintain team momentum.
• Remain hands-on by overseeing development efforts, reviewing design documents, conducting code reviews, and setting technical direction.
• Assess and adopt new technologies when appropriate.
• Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly in AI.
• Collaborate with the CTO on budgeting and resource planning.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in software engineering and engineering leadership roles.
• Proficiency in tools and practices related to industry-standard generative AI systems.
• Demonstrated success in managing and scaling engineering teams within high-growth environments.
• Strong programming skills in modern languages such as Python.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), distributed systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of relational databases such as Postgres and MySQL.
• Strong organizational skills with expertise in project management.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
• Analytical mindset with a bias toward action and pragmatic problem-solving.
• Enthusiasm for the fast-paced challenges and opportunities of startup life.
