Position Overview
Osmoses Inc. is looking for a Senior Membrane Scientist with a strong background in polymer science, membrane fabrication, and gas transport characterizations. As a member of our Product team, you will develop breakthrough membranes from concept to commercial skidded product. The role will involve the design of polymer and membrane materials for gas separations as well as fabrication and testing of membranes. The Senior Membrane Scientist will collaborate with the technology, engineering, and business teams to launch products from Osmoses.
What youll be doing
Develop structure-activity relationships of polymers for membrane gas separations to inform the Product team in their polymer design and synthesis.
Fabricate polymers synthesized by the Product team into thick films and asymmetric membranes for testing.
Evaluate the transport properties of membranes through single- and mixed-gas permeation experiments.
Characterize membranes using analytical techniques such as TGA, DSC, and SEM.
Collaborate with the Product and Implementation team to develop the criteria to qualify polymer materials for membrane development and manufacturing.
Collaborate with the Product team to troubleshoot any issues in polymer and membrane development.
Provide regular updates internally on the status of polymer and membrane development, including estimated costs and projected timelines, through written communication and presentations.
What were looking for
PhD in chemical engineering, materials science, membrane science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
2+ years industrial experience working as a materials scientist, chemical engineer, or membrane scientist in addition to the above.
High-level proficiency in membrane fabrication methods such as hollow fiber spinning and phase inversion.
Hands-on experience with gas permeation systems, gas chromatography, SEM, DSC, and TGA.
Polymer synthesis capability is preferred but not required
