OVERVIEW:
Responsible for ensuring a company's financial information is accurately reported both internally and externally, in compliance with all relevant regulations and accounting standards. This role involves preparing, analyzing, and submitting financial statements, regulatory reports, and other financial information to various stakeholders, including management, regulators, and auditors.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and the community in which it serves.
- Financial Reporting:
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
- Developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Performing variance analysis and other analytics of key business data.
- Regulatory Reporting:
- Preparing and submitting regulatory reports to relevant authorities (e.g., Federal Reserve, FDIC).
- Staying up to date on changes in accounting standards and regulations (e.g., GAAP, FIL letters related to regulatory reporting changes).
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Process Improvement:
- Identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial and regulatory reporting processes.
- Implementing process improvements and automation to streamline reporting workflows.
- Developing and maintaining documentation of reporting processes and procedures.
OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: - Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.
- May lead and/or participates in additional projects as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible managerial/leadership experience in accounting and financial reporting for financial institutions.
- CPA certification is preferred but not required.
- Extraordinarily strong leadership, analytical, problem solving, planning and communications skills.
- Strong working knowledge of internal control over financial reporting, to include either Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 or FDIC Act Part 363 (FDICIA).
- Strong technical knowledge of banking regulations, laws, guidelines, GAAP, and related procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment must be adaptable to change.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of Fiserv Prologue and other Bank specific accounts payable and reconciliation software.
INDEPENDENT ACTION: Establishes short-range plans and objectives within scope of Bank-wide policies and goals. Consults with manager regarding policy interpretation or exceptions.
