Description
Data and Project Analyst
Cooperative Research Branch (CRB) Support Services
Falmouth, MA (WHOI); Pocasset, MA; and Narragansett, RI
This role supports the Bottom Longline Survey (BLLS) and other CRB research by managing and analyzing data, assisting with at-sea operations, and producing analytical outputs for the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC)
Join @Orchard in advancing NOAA's collaborative fisheries research efforts through work with the Northeast Fisheries Science Center's (NEFSC) Cooperative Research Branch (CRB). This opportunity supports NOAA's innovative Bottom Longline Survey (BLLS), a vital project aimed at improving our understanding of marine ecosystems in the complex rocky habitats of the Gulf of Maine.
This unique survey effort supplements traditional bottom trawl data and fills critical gaps in stock assessments for data-poor species such as Atlantic wolffish and cusk. The CRB also partners with research institutions to integrate emerging methods into its field of study, ranging from shark tagging to habitat mapping.
@Orchard is actively seeking a Data and Project Analyst with a strong background in fisheries data, statistical modeling, and collaborative research. In this role, you'll support NOAA scientists by managing Oracle databases, conducting in-depth analyses, coordinating research outputs, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications. You'll also have opportunities to assist with at-sea operations aboard commercial fishing vessels and engage with external partners.
If you're passionate about marine science, data-driven research, and hands-on fieldwork, this position offers a chance to shape the future of cooperative fisheries management and ecosystem-based assessments.
